Press release: Exhibition to commemorate Eliezer Halfin

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Summer Olympics in Munich, the Munich Massacre of September5–6 , 1972 is to be commemorated throughout 2022. Every month one victim willbe at the focus of attention. A variety of different actions in public spacesis planned, ranging from installations lasting the entire month to activitieson one specific day.

This commemoration projecthas been conceived and coordinated by the Jewish Museum Munich in conjunction with the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism andthe Consulate General of the State of Israel. 

It will be implemented with cooperation partners including the Amerikahaus Munich, the LandkreisFürstenfeldbruck, the Deutsches Theater, the Police College—Hochschule für denöffentlichen Dienst in Bayern – Fachbereich Polizei, and the Munich PoliceHeadquarters, as well as other cultural and educational institutions and interested parties.

In May, the District of Fürstenfeldbruck commemorates the wrestler Eliezer Halfin. For this reason, the exhibition "5 September 1972 - The End of the Cheerful Munich Games" will be on display at the District Office from 2 to 31 May, supplemented by information on Eliezer Halfin's life.

Together with the local history society—the Historischer Verein für die Stadt und denLandkreis Fürstenfeldbruck e. V.—and Fürstenfeldbruck city guides, the Districtof Fürstenfeldbruck is holding guided tours on:

- Monday, 9May at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

- Thursday,12 May at 2 p.m.

- Tuesday,17 May at 10 a.m.

- Friday,20 May at 2 p.m.

- Monday,23 May at 2 pm

- Tuesday,24 May at 5 pm

-Wednesday, 25 May at 10 a.m.

- Tuesday,31 May at 2 pm

 

A tour ofthe exhibition lasts approx. 1½ hours; admission is free of charge. The numberof participants for each guided tour is limited to 15. Advance registration is necessary.
