Press release: Remembering the 1972 Olympic bombing in schools: New didactic concepts for teachers published

Since September 2022, there has been a digital memorial to the 1972 Olympic bombing, which provides detailed information on the tragic events of 5 September 1972 in the form of a website and an app, commemorates twelve victims and allows users to get a virtual overview of the Old Tower at the air base in Fürstenfeldbruck.
From the beginning of the project, the goal was to use the digital place of remembrance for educational purposes. In order to facilitate the use of the website and the app in school lessons for teachers, the district has commissioned two didactic concepts, which are based on the curriculum of secondary schools in Bavaria and contain many teaching materials.

The two concepts have different approaches: Concept 1 (author: Daniela Andre, LMU) works with individual lessons and focuses on the digital place of remembrance, concept 2 (author: Dr. Heike Wolter, University of Regensburg) offers flexibly usable modules and additional information on the topic of the 1972 Olympic bombing.

From now on, the didactic materials can be downloaded free of charge from the website of the Digital Place of Remembrance (https://www.erinnerungsort-fuerstenfeldbruck1972.de/bildungsarbeit) or requested in digital or printed form from erinnerungsort@lra-ffb.de .

The educational work around the digital memorial site for the 1972 Olympic bombing is supported by funding from the Bayerische Sparkassenstiftung and the Sparkasse Fürstenfeldbruck.
